For a transition from an article to a service on your own site, a separate CTA event is usually more useful than a new advertising UTM tag. This way you record the action within the site while preserving the original acquisition context in your own tracking system.
Separate the two questions
"Where did the person come from?" and "Which button did they click?" are different pieces of information. A conventional path: external search → article → service. If you assign a new advertising source to an internal button, the report may describe the internal transition instead of the original channel — the specific behavior depends on the system and the attribution model. Do not claim that any analytics always overwrites the session in the same way.
Metrika takes into account tags from the first pageview of a visit. Therefore, an internal UTM link will not necessarily immediately overwrite the source of a visit that has already begun. A separate risk arises if such a link is copied, sent to another person, or opened as a new visit: the internal campaign name will end up being a tag for an external entry. The Metrika help documentation does not relieve you of the need to check your own configuration, redirects, and source transmission up to the order.
Minimal event scheme
Agree with the developer on a click event, the article URL, and a permanent name for the button location, for example "end of article." Do not include email, a client message, a token, or a card number. The internal link then leads to the regular service URL without a new advertising campaign.
Check the click, the form opening, and the confirmed payment separately. A click may end in an error or a refusal; it is not an order. Event implementation must take into account the applicable consent settings and the available measurement coverage.
How to accept the setup
In a test visit with a known entry, click the CTA, check the event and the preservation of the original source. Then make sure that refreshing the page did not create a duplicate payment result. Perform the check without a real charge if the task is only the analytics path.
Scheme: 1 — external source; 2 — internal action; 3 — separate order result. External links can be prepared in the Boosted UTM generator; according to this methodology, internal buttons do not need it. Purchased activity does not restore lost attribution and does not prove conversion.
