UTM tag generator

Understand which posts bring readers. Build a link for Telegram, VK, Zen, a newsletter or any other channel.

The presets are suitable for regular posts. For a paid campaign, specify the values accepted in your analytics. Do not add names, phone numbers, email addresses or secret keys to the labels.

The entered address and label values remain in this tab. If analytics consent is given, only the fact that a link was created or copied is recorded.

What UTM tags show

UTM parameters are in the page address. They pass the name of the source, the placement method, and the campaign to the analytics system. The tags help match visits to a specific publication. The generator itself does not count clicks and does not connect a counter to your site.

utm_source
Where the reader came from: a platform, a partner, or a newsletter.
utm_medium
Traffic type: for example, messenger, social or email.
utm_campaign
The campaign name that unites its placements.
utm_content
A variant of a post, button, or ad for comparison.
utm_term
Key phrase; for a regular post you can leave it empty.

Keep the same spelling of names: telegram and Telegram may end up in different rows of the report. The values and types of sources are described in Yandex Metrica help.

Questions about the generator

Where can I see transitions and sales?

On your own website, set up analytics and the necessary goals taking into account visitor consent. In Yandex Metrica, transitions can be compared in the “UTM Tags” report. Sales will require separate goal or ecommerce setup. Compare not only visits but also conversions, revenue, and costs over the same period. A click on the platform and a recorded visit may differ.

Can subscriptions inside Telegram or VK be measured?

A regular UTM link does not do this by itself. Tags are intended primarily for transitions to a page where analytics is set up. For subscriptions within the platform, use its own statistics and supported attribution tools. Adding UTM to a channel link does not enable subscription tracking.

What happens to the parameters and anchor in the original link?

Other parameters after ? and the anchor after # will be saved. The five generator fields will replace the previous ones utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content and utm_term; empty optional labels will be removed. For signed or temporary links, check with their service whether adding parameters is allowed.

Can I write the names in Russian?

Yes. The generator encodes Cyrillic, spaces, and special characters for the URL. For consistent reports, it is convenient to choose short names in lowercase Latin in advance. A space in the finished label may look like + — this is normal encoding.

Does Boosted save the entered links?

The generator processes the fields in the browser and does not send them to the server. After refreshing the page, they will be reset. If you consent to analytics, only the fact that the tool was used is transmitted, without the address or field values. Do not put personal data in labels: they will be visible to anyone who has the finished link.

Why are some clicks missing from the report?

A visitor could close the page before the counter loads, decline analytics, or use a blocker. A redirect can also remove the tags. UTM does not bypass these limitations and does not guarantee full attribution. Check the finished link and analytics settings before launching the experiment.
