Topics in a Telegram group help separate simultaneous discussions: delivery questions do not get mixed up with a lesson review. Start with two or three clear sections and a rule about where to write. Dozens of empty topics complicate navigation before a real need even arises.
First, separate the questions
Take the most recent inquiries and sort them by the outcome the person expects. For a study group, these could be "Assignments," "Error Review," and "Class Organization." Names like "General 2" and "Miscellaneous New" do not explain where an answer will be. Do not ask people to send personal documents or payment details to a general topic.
Telegram allows you to enable topics in the group settings and separately specify who can create and change them. Topics have their own shared media and notification settings. A topic remains part of the group: its name by itself does not create a separate list of admitted members.
Check the newcomer's route
Create a test topic, write a short description and one sample question. For example: "Here we discuss the second assignment. Send the step number and the place where the error occurred; cover up personal data in the screenshot." Ask a participant to open the group on their phone and find this example without a hint from an administrator.
If a participant looks for an answer through the general search rather than the tabs, add clear assignment names to the messages. Do not count on the reorganization itself to move and neatly sort all the previous correspondence. Check links to useful old answers separately.
How to tell that the separation is helping
After a few working days, look at how many questions have to be moved and which two topics are constantly confused. First, clarify the names and the introductory text. If the differences are still unclear, combine your own instructions into one section, after saving the important links first.
