Telegram Communities: how to link a channel, chat, and bot for clients

Communities bring together several Telegram spaces. We break down a scheme for business, participant rights, and checking the path from content to an inquiry.

A business may have a useful channel, an active chat, and a booking bot, but it is still hard for a person to understand where to go. Telegram Communities lets you link these spaces. The owner's practical task is to assign each one a clear role and check that the client does not lose their intent between transitions.

What has changed in Telegram

In July 2026, Telegram introduced Communities: a union of several channels, groups, and bots. Participants can see other chats of the community and join them. Visibility is provided for chats, and the ability to add new spaces can be restricted; by default, a community allows collaborative adding. Official description of Communities.

Before setting up, check the current points in your app. Do not treat the union as a replacement for a separate access check: chat visibility and the rules for handling client information need to be assessed separately.

Map out the client journey before setup

For a small educational project, the scheme might look like this: the channel explains the teaching method, the general chat answers organizational questions, and the bot helps submit a request for a suitable course. This is a conditional example, not a ready-made feature of any bot.

Write down one task and one expected action for each space. If two channels have the same role, think about whether both are really needed. A new community should not turn into a catalog of long-abandoned chats.

  • Channel: the person understands the product content and terms.
  • Chat: asks a general question and sees the communication rules.
  • Bot or personal contact: submits an individual request.

Do not send a client to the general chat for a personal order price if calculating it will require disclosing personal information. Provide a separate way to get in touch and explain what needs to be shared.

Start with a small structure

For the first launch, choose an existing channel and one space that complements it in meaning. Check the descriptions, avatars, and names. "Training questions" is clearer than "Main chat 2". In the description, briefly state who the team answers and where an order is placed.

Then check the permissions for adding chats. For a business community, it is useful to decide in advance who is responsible for the composition of the sections. Otherwise, a new participant may mistake someone else's added chat for an official support channel. This is an organizational risk worth checking in the settings, not a reason to shut down communication.

Separately review hidden spaces from an ordinary participant's account. Do not check access only from the owner's account: they have a different set of permissions. For a test, voluntary participation by a colleague is enough, without real orders and client data.

Make the transitions clear

At the end of suitable posts, give a specific next step. For example: "A question about the schedule — go to the participants' chat. An individual program — via a request." Avoid a generic "all links in the community" if the person is already ready to get in touch.

The bot should respond to the request it was approached with. If a post promises course selection, but the bot starts with an unrelated game or a mandatory subscription to several channels, the transition becomes longer. Remove unnecessary steps before testing audience acquisition.

How to evaluate the usefulness of a Community

For the first week, record recurring questions, clicks on links to your own website, and completed inquiries. Separately note situations where a client wrote to the wrong place. Such inquiries show weak points in the structure even with low traffic.

Do not add up participants across all chats and call the total a unique audience: the same people may be present in several spaces. For revenue, count specific paid orders without double-counting, and for support, count resolved inquiries.

What to check before buying activity

In the Telegram catalog, a service relates to a specific object. For example, subscribers are ordered for the specified channel or group according to the card's terms. Creating a Community does not turn one order into promotion of all its sections, and the number of participants does not prove their interest in the product.

Frequently asked questions

Should you link all your chats?

No. Start with spaces that have a clear user transition between them. Internal work discussions and old test groups should not be added just for the sake of a complete list.

Does a Community replace inquiry tracking?

Plan tracking separately: record the responsible person, the inquiry status, and payment in a suitable tool. The mere fact of linking chats does not confirm that the inquiry processing workflow is set up.

How to choose a link for ordering a service?

Specify the object from the selected card, and do not assume that any community link will work. If in doubt, send a question to Boosted support before placing an order.
