To send a YouTube video for review, choose access limited to a circle of recipients. Unlisted lets anyone who has the link watch it and forward it. Private restricts viewing to selected people, but does not support comments under the video. Neither mode turns YouTube into a storage for secret documents.
Choosing for two situations
A hypothetical open product review needs to be shown to the editor and designer. If distributing the draft outside the team is acceptable, unlisted makes viewing via link easier. When the video contains materials that have not yet been approved, first remove them or choose restricted access and separately identify the recipients.
YouTube's official help describes changing Visibility in Studio. For private, use Share privately with the invitees' addresses. Verification is done from the recipient's account: the author's own access does not prove that the invitation worked.
How to collect feedback
Attach the version number and a response deadline to the link. Ask for feedback in the form of "time — problem — desired change." For private, prepare a separate agreed feedback channel, since comments under such a video are unavailable.
When there is a new version, update the approval record. The phrase "approved" must refer to a specific file, not to a constantly changing link in a chat. If a comment concerns a fact or someone else's image, resolve it before public release.
Do not confuse hiding and access control
Unlisted does not appear in the usual way on the channel page, but the recipient can pass the URL on; being added to a public playlist is also important to consider. Private videos may be reviewed by YouTube systems and staff for purposes provided for by the platform. For materials that must not be uploaded to a third party at all, a different agreed process is needed. Before the final release, check the actual mode once more.
