If a TikTok video shows a realistic person or event created or substantially modified by AI, check whether labeling is required before publishing. An AI label describes the origin of the image or audio. It does not replace labeling of commercial content and does not make any subject matter permissible.
Describe exactly what was changed
In the working file, list: the face was synthesized, the voice was changed, the background was replaced, or the entire frame was created from scratch. Ordinary brightness correction should not automatically be described as creating a fictional person. The decision must match the actual method of preparation.
TikTok requires labeling of realistic AI images, audio, and video. The platform may also apply an automatic label, including based on embedded provenance data. You cannot promise to remove such an automatic mark manually. Some subject matter is prohibited regardless of whether a label is present.
Example with an instructional presenter
A hypothetical studio prepares a synthetic presenter to explain how an app works. Before publishing, it checks that the figure is not presented as a review from a real client and does not imitate a person without the necessary grounds. The nature of the demonstration is clearly indicated on screen and in the description.
The author then checks the AI-generated content setting at the publishing stage and the final label. If a built-in AI effect was used, the author takes into account the automatic labeling provided by the platform. Additional external processing should not be hidden behind the name of a single effect.
Separate the three checks
The first is the origin of the content: is it clear that it was created by AI. The second is the content: does the scene mislead the viewer about an event or a person. The third is commercial relationships: does the promotion of a brand need to be indicated separately. A single toggle does not answer all three questions.
Keep the original description of the processing and the final version of the video for the team. Do not promise that the label will increase reach or protect against any and all restrictions. It helps present the material correctly, while the platform rules and the rights to the materials used are checked separately.
