It is better to carry out a channel username change as a replacement of the address at all entry points. Before making the change, make a list of placements that lead to the old link, and coordinate actions on current orders. Do not count on automatic redirection of the old address.

Divide the list into links you manage and placements owned by others. The first group will include the website, profile, pinned post, email templates, QR codes, and scheduled publications. The second includes partner posts, third-party catalogs, and materials that have already been printed. For each address, record the owner, whether it can be replaced, and the date of the check.
A public username and an invite link are different ways of gaining access. The Telegram FAQ explains the difference between public and private channels, but does not promise that all old addresses will be preserved after renaming. Check the specific type of link you use.
Sequence of switching over
First prepare the new texts and a list of those responsible. Before changing the address, check with the contractor about what to do with an order that is still being fulfilled using the old link. Do not start a second order to “fix the address” until the fate of the first one is clear.
After the change, open the new address in a separate session and make sure it is the right channel. Check several links to specific posts: the channel address and the post address cannot be considered interchangeable. Update the entry points you manage, then ask partners to replace their placements. Scan the old QR codes on another device.
Closing out the transition
In the log, leave the old address, the new one, the time of the change, and the result of each check. If an external item cannot be fixed, mark it as a remaining risk and stop sending new traffic to it. Do not claim that the channel lost its audience based only on a drop in clicks on the day of the change: first rule out broken links.
