For a closed meeting in Telegram, use a separate invite link with a clear expiry and access verification. The link invites people to the community; by itself it is not a ticket, proof of payment, or proof of a participant's identity.
How to choose restrictions
Telegram lets you create additional links with an expiry, a limit on the number of uses, or both. There is also a separate option to join after administrator approval. Check the combination of available parameters in your version of the app: not all settings have to work at the same time.
Before creating it, decide three things: who should receive the invitation, until when it is needed, and who will handle sign-in problems. For a meeting of twenty people, a limit of exactly twenty with no verification may prove inconvenient: the team will use up some of the available entries on a test. Do not compensate for this by handing out a new link without control.
Example of an invitation log
An authored scenario: the organizer creates a separate link, “September meeting,” sets the expiry until the end of registration, and sends invitations only to participants who have signed up. In a non-public log, they keep the link name, purpose, deactivation date, and the person responsible. The secret address itself is not inserted into a public report.
Before sending out the mailing, one invited person checks sign-in, while the organizer checks the remaining limit and the settings. The registration page states a contact for the case “the link does not work.” After sign-up is complete, the person responsible checks that the old link is no longer used in active announcements.
If the address has become publicly available
Assess whether this particular link needs to be revoked and a new one issued through a verified channel. Revoking an invitation should not be confused with removing participants who have already joined: these are different actions. Compare the actual list of participants with the event rules, without publishing their personal data.
Do not measure revenue by the number of joins via the link: the invitation could have been forwarded, and a person could have joined without making a purchase. Money requires separate confirmed accounting.
