The Telegram length limit depends on the sending method. A regular Bot API message, a media caption, and a Rich Message are different modes. So start your check with the text's destination, not with a universal number for all of Telegram.
Choose the mode you need
In the Bot API documentation, the regular sendMessage has a limit of 4096 characters after entities are parsed, and regular media captions have a limit of 1024. The separate Rich Message has different rules. Telegram also described a Premium Rich Text Editor with extended capabilities; a regular text export is not the same as this format.
The Boosted editor shows text characters and UTF-16 units. These are useful counters, but they do not replace checking all the method's constraints. Emoji and composite characters can take up several units; the familiar number of visible glyphs does not always match the technical length.
Why the export became longer
Suppose a link's label consists of four letters, while the address contains long parameters. In a regular export, the editor adds the URL in parentheses — its characters count toward the length. In HTML or MarkdownV2, the label and the link code are structured differently; counting the length of the raw code as the length of the displayed message is also incorrect.
Choose the export format before the final check. Copy exactly the resulting output into the chosen sending method. If the text does not fit, first remove repetitions and move details into available material, while keeping the key terms of the offer.
Splitting into messages
Do not cut the text in the middle of a link or instruction. The first block should explain the task, and the next should continue it with a clear transition. For photos, check the caption separately: long text that is acceptable as a standalone message may not be suitable for a caption.
Before mass posting, do a test send. The tool does not publish anything automatically and does not know the capabilities of a specific account. The result in the chosen client or the response of the API method used serves as working confirmation.
