Correspondence on Telegram does not automatically require showing the client a personal number. Check the visibility of the number and the method of first contact before publishing the link. At the same time, a privacy setting will not make a person forget a number they have already saved.
Separate the contact address and the phone number
Decide where a new client should write: to a personal work account, to a channel with direct messages, or to another designated support channel. If you use a username, take the link from your own profile and check the exact spelling. Do not replace it with a phone number from the address book.
The Telegram FAQ states that the number can be hidden when communicating in private chats and groups; visibility is configured in the “Privacy — Phone Number” section. People who already know the number and have saved it remain a separate case. The availability of a profile via a link does not mean the number is published for everyone.
Check two scenarios
Ask a consenting colleague who does not have your number saved to open the published work link. They should reach the expected name and understand what they can write about. Have them report whether the number is visible; do not ask them to send the contents of their address book.
Then check the display with a contact who already stores your number. A difference in the results is acceptable and does not necessarily mean a configuration error. Testing only with your own administrator account does not show the experience of a new client.
Agree on the team’s public details
A hypothetical workshop receives inquiries via a manager’s profile. The post states their work name and response hours, not the personal phone number of every employee. When the manager changes, the link in old pinned posts and the current description is checked.
Do not promise complete anonymity: a person sees the chosen name, photo, and other public profile details. If a personal account is inconvenient for work, first discuss a suitable channel for inquiries. To order activity via a public link, the number and login code do not need to be provided.
Scheme: 1 — choose a work method of contact; 2 — configure the visibility of the number; 3 — check the profile through the eyes of a new client.
