Buttons inside Telegram posts: a short path from a question to a request

New buttons inside Telegram text let you build interactive scenarios. How to choose a useful scenario, put together a brief, and check requests.

An interactive post is useful when it helps a person choose the next step. For example, finding out which consultation format suits them and sending a request with the necessary details. You don't have to add buttons just for unusual styling: start with one recurring customer question.

What the new feature can do

In the update from 25 August 2026, Telegram introduced buttons inside message text. Developers can build interactive scenarios for channels and groups. Automated behavior requires programming; this is not a universal "make a store" button in the post editor. Description of the Telegram update.

What follows is a scheme for discussion with a developer. It does not mean that every described action is already connected in your channel or available in a ready-made template.

Choose the question that actually gets in the way of a purchase

Look at recent inquiries and find a recurring fork. For a music school, it might be the choice between a trial lesson and a course for continuing students. For a photo studio, it might be product photography or a portrait. If two options differ only in name, it will be hard for a person to choose in the buttons too.

A hypothetical school scenario: the post explains who a trial lesson suits. The person chooses "Starting from scratch" or "Already playing." After choosing, they get a short description of the format, the price, and the option to leave a convenient time for contact. The final step clearly states that a request is being sent, not that a paid booking is being created.

First write this chain out in plain text. If it's unclear without buttons, interactivity won't fix the problem.

What to include in the brief for the developer

  • Start: the specific post and the question it addresses.
  • Options: the choice texts and the response after each action.
  • End: what information the person sends and where the request goes.
  • Return: how to change the choice or cancel the action.
  • Failure: what the person will see if the handler is unavailable.

Don't collect a phone number, address, and other details just because they're easy to add to a form. For an initial inquiry, leave only the data without which you can't give a substantive answer. The recipient must understand what they're sending and to whom.

How to check the scenario before publishing

Go through each option with test data. Press the button again: do two identical requests appear? Go back and change the answer. Make sure the price and terms don't diverge between the branches and the main offer page.

Separately check a phone, a computer, and the situation with an outdated app. If the interactive element doesn't work for part of the audience, leave a regular link to the contact or order. Through that link, the person should get the same offer.

After checking, send a test request to the responsible employee in a pre-agreed way. They should see the source, the chosen option, and the expected next action. A beautiful interface is useless if there's no one to handle the inquiries.

Which metrics to compare

If the implementation allows collecting events, count the opening of the scenario, the choice of an option, the sending of a request, and a confirmed purchase. Don't equate a click with an inquiry: the user may have just been exploring the interface.

For the first week, it's useful to review the exit points. Many first clicks and few completions is a reason to check the complexity of the question, the price, errors, and unnecessary fields. With a small number of visitors, these observations remain hypotheses, not proven conversion growth.

How to connect an interactive post with promotion

Prepare the post itself, a working link, and a way to handle requests. Telegram post views have a different result: a change in the corresponding counter under the terms of the service. Such activity does not prove that people went through the scenario or are ready to buy.

If you're comparing offers in the Telegram catalog, keep the ordered metrics as a separate line in the report. The form below lets you check the terms for views; developing an interactive message is not included in it.

Frequently asked questions

How many options should you show at the start?

As many as a person can distinguish by meaning. For a first experiment, two or three real scenarios are usually enough. This is a working limit for testing, not a Telegram rule.

Can you get by with a regular link?

Yes. If you only need to open a ready-made booking form, a link often solves the task with fewer actions. Interactivity is justified when the choice actually changes what follows.

How do you find out the promotion terms for a specific post?

Open the card for the service you need and check the object, quantity, and fulfillment terms. If it's unclear which link is suitable, clarify this with Boosted support before paying.
