Song lyrics on Spotify are edited through a separate process, not by simply replacing the release description. The main path indicated by Spotify is artist verification in Musixmatch and working with the lyrics and synchronization there. For listeners in Japan, the help documentation names a different provider — PetitLyrics.
Prepare the correct version
Before submitting, check the lyrics against the recording: the studio, live, and shortened versions may differ. Write out repeated lines in full, without replacing them with a note like “twice.” Do not include in the song lyrics any promotional address that is not present in the audio.
A hypothetical artist releases a shortened version with one chorus instead of two. Copying the lyrics from the full version will create a desynchronization after the verse. First compare the duration and the sequence of parts, then move on to the line timings.
Confirmation and submission
In Musixmatch Pro, add the artist via Roster and their Spotify URL. According to Spotify's help documentation, the free tier is sufficient for adding, editing, and synchronizing lyrics yourself. Do not choose the paid option just because it is shown first; check the terms of the feature you need.
After confirmation, find the song you need, correct the Lyrics, and submit the changes. For synchronization, check the start of each line against the first word sung. Do not try to compensate for incorrect lyrics by shifting the timing.
Check that it appears
Changes may appear on Spotify with a delay. Note the submission date, the recording version, and the corrected places. Then check the song as a listener. If the update has not appeared, verify that the release is correct and check the submission status with the lyrics provider; repeated inconsistent versions will make troubleshooting harder. Having song lyrics does not promise playlist placement and does not automatically correct artist or songwriter metadata.
