Pitching a track and a music video on Spotify: why these are two separate submissions

Pitching a song and pitching a music video on Spotify are separate submissions. A submitted song does not mean the video has also been passed to editors. Keep two separate statuses and check the availability of each tool for the release team.

What to check for a song

Spotify's official help describes submitting an unreleased track through Spotify for Artists, in the Music → Upcoming section. You can pitch one song at a time; after release it is no longer eligible for this submission. Access requires the Admin or Editor role.

Before filling it in, gather the title, date, description of the sound, and real promotion plans. Do not add fabricated achievements. If the track is not visible, first find out the delivery status rather than creating several different descriptions of the same release.

What to check for a video

The help states that video pitching is being rolled out gradually. Official music videos and performances are eligible; published videos have a limited seven-day window, the start of which depends on the delivery method. Before submitting, open the current help and check the rights of the specific team through which the video was uploaded. The absence of a submission option may mean there is no eligible video or no access.

Two rows in the calendar

A hypothetical release: the track has already appeared in Upcoming, while the video is still being prepared. In the log, the track records the person responsible, the check date, and the submission status. For the video — the delivery status, access, and a separate decision on submission. An empty video row should not automatically be marked "done" just because the song was.

For the video, describe the visual story and context; for the track, the music and audience. Do not carry one text over mechanically: the editor needs different information. Save the final approved version so the team does not send contradictory data.
