Release preparation often falls apart into separate announcements: the cover art in one place, the teaser in another, and the link appears at the last moment. A Countdown Page helps gather anticipation for an album inside Spotify. But first you need to check whether the feature is available, then plan useful materials, and only after that assess listener interest.
Who can access Countdown Pages
As of 19 September 2026, Spotify's official help documentation states a threshold of 3 000 monthly active listeners. These are specifically active listeners, not total monthly listeners. New original albums and EPs qualify; singles, re-releases, deluxe versions, remasters, and compilations are excluded. The release must be delivered by a distributor via DDEX. For a collaborative release, the page is created by the first listed main artist; support for releases with split rights is limited. Current Spotify terms.
In Spotify for Artists, check Audience → Segments. To create a page, an administrator or editor opens Music → Upcoming and the relevant release. Do not plan a campaign until you have made sure the feature is available specifically for it.
A practical preparation plan
The following calendar is a suggestion from the Boosted editorial team that needs to be adjusted to the release delivery date and the team's actual capabilities. It is not a mandatory Spotify schedule and not a forecast of results.
Two weeks out: build the foundation
Assign one person to check the title, track order, date, and links. Make a simple table: material, person responsible, status, place of publication. Save the baseline audience data and that of a previous comparable release.
Prepare three standalone reasons to pay attention to the music. For example, the story behind one line, a recording of a live fragment, and an explanation of an unusual sound. Each piece of material should be interesting on its own: repeating the cover art daily quickly stops giving the audience new information.
One week out: check the listener's path
Open the link on a phone in the usual way and check that the person recognizes the artist and the relevant release. Match the title in the announcement with the title of the page. Add a clear reason to return to the music: a mood, a story, or a specific fragment.
For external publications, use separate tagged links through whatever analytics tool you have available, if you have one. Do not promise that such tags will show every subsequent listen inside Spotify. Clicking a link and actually listening are different events.
On release day: replace anticipation with familiarity
Check that the music opens, and prepare a post with one clear suggestion to listen to a chosen track. Give context to someone who is seeing the artist for the first time. Invite existing listeners to share which track stuck with them and why.
Spread replies and follow-up materials over several days. If someone asked a substantive question about the recording, use it as the topic of a separate post with the author's permission when quoting a private conversation. Do not turn interest in the music into a demand to listen on a schedule for the sake of a counter.
What to do if the feature is unavailable
Use a clear release page, your own website, or an available distributor link, and keep an announcement calendar. Do not try to artificially make up the metric to gain access. Spotify prohibits third-party paid services with guaranteed streams; consequences may include removal of the music. Spotify rules.
In the Spotify section and release packages, check the actual composition of the offer. The catalog is not an organic growth tool and does not provide access to Countdown Pages. If the terms are unclear, discuss them with support before paying. The form below shows the catalog parameters and does not connect Spotify features.

Frequently asked questions
Is the tool suitable for a new single?
According to the verified terms, Countdown Pages are intended for new original albums and EPs. For a single, prepare a separate sequence of announcements and check the available tools in your account.
Is 3 000 regular monthly listeners enough?
No: check the active segment. The total public figure does not replace the feature availability requirement.
What to do if the announcements have already gone out but the page is not ready?
Check delivery and data with your distributor. Update the links wherever you can edit the posts, and communicate only confirmed information about the release.
Measurement plan
Record baseline metrics, interest in the announcements, and clicks. On release day, save the available number of pre-saves. After seven and 28 days, check the release audience, active listeners, and your own commercial results if you sell tickets or merch. Do not present a temporary coincidence of growth as a proven effect of the campaign.
