A private SoundCloud link is suitable for letting a small group listen to a demo before release. But anyone who receives such a link can open the material: this is access via a secret address, not personal permission for only one recipient.
Prepare the demo for discussion
Name the version and formulate the question. "Demo v3, check the clarity of the vocals in the chorus" will give a more useful answer than "what do you think?". If several versions are being sent, explain the difference and ask the listener to name the version in their reply. Do not change the file under the same designation in the middle of the discussion without warning the participants.
The official SoundCloud help describes obtaining a secret link via Share on a private track or playlist. The address contains an additional token; the regular page link and the full private link are not interchangeable. Do not cut off the end of the address when forwarding it.
Checking access without a public announcement
Open the link you are sending in a context where you do not have owner rights, and make sure it leads to the right demo. Then pass it only to selected listeners with a request not to distribute it. This is a request, not a technical guarantee: the address may be forwarded further.
Author's message template: "Demo v3, before release. I need an answer to one question: are the words clear from 0:48 to 1:05? Write what you listened on, and point out the moment if something gets in the way. Please do not post the link publicly." The time in the sample is conditional and must match the actual file.
How to sort through feedback
Separate observations from preferences: "the words are impossible to make out on a phone" and "I like a different genre" require different solutions. Keep the version, the moment, and the listening context; do not treat five acquaintances as a representative sample of a future audience.
In a public announcement, use the already-verified public release address once it is ready for release. Do not insert the private link into an order for mass promotion. Views of an announcement in Telegram are not SoundCloud listens or proof of the mix's quality.
