Zero orders after twenty clicks: what can be concluded from a small test

Zero orders after twenty clicks does not yet prove that nobody needs the offer. First check the measurement and the checkout path, then assess whether there are enough observations to decide. A small amount of data cannot be fixed with a confident wording.

Why zero is possible when demand is non-zero

Let's take a teaching model: each of twenty independent visitors buys with the same probability 2%. The probability of getting no purchase at all equals 0,98 to the power of 20 — approximately 66,8%. This is a calculation based on the binomial model, not a measured conversion rate of Boosted or a forecast for your business.

In reality, visits are not always independent, one person may return, the audience composition changes, and a purchase may happen later. Therefore the example explains the limitations of a short series, but it does not give a universal number of clicks after which success is guaranteed.

First rule out an obvious malfunction

Check whether the link leads to the right offer, whether the page is accessible on a phone, whether the terms are clear, and whether the selected analytics event works. Then find out whether there are inquiries or purchases that did not make it into the available slice. Do not substitute zero for missing data.

An author's scenario: after twenty clicks there are no payments, but there are two questions about delivery. The team clarifies delivery on the page and saves the date of the change. Subsequent observations are analyzed separately: merging versions will hide which offer the person saw.

A decision with a limited budget

Before continuing, write down the observation period, the allowable spend, and the signal that will require stopping: for example, a confirmed technical error or the impossibility of fulfilling the offer. Do not increase spend just to reach a nice sample size. If there is little data, the conclusion may be "there is not enough basis yet."

Compare variants using the same definition of a click and a purchase. Ten repeat visits by one author are not equal to ten independent potential customers. Purchased post views also cannot be used in place of page visits with comparable intent.
