The old image in a message can persist across several layers: the source HTML, the image file, an intermediate cache, or the app itself. Start with the exact link that has already been sent. A new file on the author's computer does not yet mean that the public URL serves the new data.

Four checkpoints
- Open the exact address from the message, including the parameters.
- In the preview check, look at the final URL and og:image.
- Open the image file itself and compare it with the new version.
- Send the same link in a test message and compare how it displays.
If the old og:image remains in the HTML, the page needs to be fixed. If the address is correct but old bytes are served at it, check the file's publication and your site's cache. If both the HTML and the file are new, but the app shows the old one, the observation points to the next layer; it does not prove when that layer will update.
A new file name
For a controlled update, it is convenient to release the image under a new name and change og:image to the new URL. This makes the version explicit and makes checking easier. But an app may store not only the file but the entire page card, so renaming is not a universal cache-reset command.
Do not add random parameters to a public link without understanding the consequences. They can create address variants, change analytics, or not be supported by the handler. Keep the document's canonical address and distinguish it from a diagnostic URL.
Record the result
Write down the time, the page address, the image address, and exactly where the display was checked. Open Graph describes the fields of the object, but does not set a general retention period for cards by all apps. If the target platform has an official re-check tool, use that platform's current instructions.
The check button in Boosted performs a new request from its own server and does not clear other parties' caches. The practical outcome of the diagnosis is a specific layer of discrepancy and a verifiable fix on your side, not a promise of instant updating of every old message.
If a separate public announcement in Telegram has been prepared for this work, you can check the current view terms. Checking metadata is free; a separate order of views does not change the card or the apps' cache. Purchased activity does not confirm organic interest, recommendations, leads, or sales.
